I recently spoke with @soso_doodles, a well-known artist in our fandom. The topic was “how bad matches and the restrictive elven laws will affect the main group”. She had some amazing responses, and I am so glad she agreed to be interviewed for our newsletter!
Q: How do you think the rules about matches will affect the characters later in life?
A: Well, given I’m only on everblaze, I’d say it could narrow down their choices in life, but wouldn’t make them unhappy.
Q: What ships do you hope will happen, and would matchmaking, or the rules of elven society ever affect these ships?
A: I'm really a multi-shipper but I’m going more towards SoKeefe. I entirely trust Shannon about this, and society can be pushy so yeah I think it could affect them a little but we all know Sophie doesn’t follow rules!
Q: Should a ship choose to have kids, how will they be affected by the rules of elven society, should the rules be changed to fit sophie's vision?
A: I think the elven society has used this matching system for several reasons. 1st, given that the elves don’t die from old age so that they wouldn’t marry their relatives without knowing, and 2nd, because the elven society is so advanced. What I mean is they want to obtain a baby who would be genetically superior, but in Sophie’s case, that would be different because of her DNA. I don’t know how that would affect her own kids though
Q: Do you think any of the characters would end in a bad match?
A: I mean, there are a lot of characters so yes, that’s definitely a possibility
Q: How has the pressure of being a bad match affected the main characters as they grew up?
A: Most of the characters have grown up in an environment with a lot of pressure because of theirs talents or family and peoples expectations, so I guess that would just be one more harsh element to their harsh lives ? Maybe they’d think they’re not worthy, or lose confidence about love
