In a comment shared on facebook, Shannon corrected some confusion about Wylie Endal’s age. Some readers were worried that shipping Wylie and Linh would be inappropriate due to the age gap. Others argued that, as stated in the books, age doesn’t matter to elves so it shouldn’t affect our ships. Shannon clarified that Wylie’s age was never given, rather Sophie just assumed he looked “about twenty”.
“I usually don't like to comment on details from the series because it opens the floodgates to 10,000 other questions, but I will quickly say that I'm pretty sure i've never actually given Wylie's precise age, only had Sophie look at him and decide he looked ‘about twenty.’ But even if I did get specific, age gets complicated in the series--intentionally. I want to capture the feel of "time feeling different in the lost cities since age/birthdays aren't something they pay attention to" so I try to intentionally be vague and sometimes have Sophie get things wrong or think about it more than she should because of her human upbringing.”

Many readers were glad to know that his age was never stated. Now Kotlc fandom shippers can ship Wylinh (Wylie and Linh) without the worry of the age gap.
